BLACK SUMMERS
We invite you to join us for our next unforgettable live storytelling experience:
☀️ BLACK SUMMERS☀️
Growing Up in the Urban Outdoors
Happening Friday, June 19th, 2026 | 7:30 PM at The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.
The Secret Society of Twisted Storytellers® proudly presents BLACK SUMMERS—an evening of real people sharing true stories told live, celebrating the joy, freedom, culture, and unforgettable moments of growing up Black in the summertime.
Curated by Desiree Cooper and hosted by the incomparable Satori Shakoor, this powerful experience takes us back to the summers that shaped us—long days outside, neighborhood adventures, music in the air, porch conversations, block parties, bike rides, water hoses, and the communities that raised us.
These are stories filled with laughter, memory, resilience, and truth.
Stories of childhood freedom and coming of age.
Of friendship, family, survival, and the beauty found in ordinary moments that became lifelong memories.
Prepare for a night of nostalgia, reflection, humor, and heartfelt connection—delivered with the honesty, soul, and Detroit energy that defines the Twisted stage.
Because Black summers were never just a season…
they were a feeling.
A rhythm.
A rite of passage.
Come relive the moments.
Come honor the memories.
Come be in the room.
Doors open at 6:30 PM.
Come early, settle in, and prepare for an evening that will move you, challenge you, and awaken the warrior within.
Tickets must be purchased online — no in-person sales will be available. All sales are final with no refunds.
